First Business Book addressing Alcoholism

In the midst of an economic crisis, many businesses are fighting to survive. With all of the variables that can affect business, successful business leaders must be armed for battle. In 'Raise The Bottom' Arthur Jackson reveals an issue that has been disregarded for too many years: alcoholism and how it affects the workplace.

Marietta, Georgia (PRWEB) January 25, 2009 -- "Arthur Jackson has crafted a readable, accessible primer on the symptoms of alcoholism and how to spot them. The information he provides could save you many headaches and heartaches in your business and personal relationships." -- Best-selling author and President of Elliot Wave International, Robert Prechter, Jr.

A common and yet overlooked business issue is brought to the forefront in Arthur M. Jackson's book 'Raise The Bottom': How to Keep Secret Alcoholics from Damaging Your Business. With an uncertain economy, business leaders need to understand how the rampant and rarely discussed disease of alcoholism not only affects the individual suffering, but also the business for which the alcoholic works. 'Raise The Bottom,' the first business book that tackles alcoholism in the workplace, provides tips on how to recognize closet alcoholics and prevent them from damaging a business.

I have not yet read "Raise the Bottom". However, I have recently read in the Psychology Today.com blog "The High-Functioning Alcoholic" about a new book titled "Understanding the High-Functioning Alcoholic: Professional Views and Personal Insights" This book is written by a therapist who is in recovery and explores characterstics of high-functioning alcoholics in all aspects of their lives as well their recovery-looks really interesting. The book Website is: www.highfunctioningalcoholic.com

I am looking forward to reading this book. As a freelance writer and Operations Manager for an insurance company, as well as a recovering alcoholic who has written about the disease, I am so pleased to see a book like this made available. So much is misunderstood about the disease of alcoholism - knowledge if power and, as many of us know, alcoholism can tear so much apart - families, relationships and yes, jobs! I'm going to order a copy of this today and will no doubt blog about it myself. Best Regards, Susie Parker, Wilmington, NC

I was excited to read "Raising the Bottom"--as this book reinforces many of the same principles we stress at Changing Lives Foundation. The book is interesting, easy to read and explains alcoholism in a way that is different from other materials.

This would be a great resource for businesses to require their managers all to read.

Another resource that is similar but directed more toward the families of those addicted is called "Why Don't They JUST QUIT?"by Joe Herzanek

Mr. Jackson -- Just wanted to point out to you that your website, www.raisethebottom.com, is showing up in Google search results with the tag "This site may harm your computer." To have the issue fixed, you have to request a review from Google WebTools if you haven't done so already.

Is alcoholism is a likely cause for a person to lose their social life and so it is neglected ... a little help from The family could ease the situation a bit if he wants to leave this addiction ... And besides can also find books like this that serve as guide for the person affected ....
